MTG (Museum, Theatre, Gallery) in Hawkes Bay, commissioned furniture for their new foyer space. They required a reception area and shop furnishings that could disappear when the room was used for events.
A desk and two large wall cabinets were installed in the space. The pink cabinets open to reveal shop display or reception storage/signage. When closed they become neutral sculptural objects. The reception desk has a pared back tablecloth design to imply a connection to the applied arts focus of MTG's collection. The marbled Corian tablecloth has been scalloped and perforated to suggest stitch work.
Mobile shop units on wheels can be combined in a variety of ways to create different display islands, then are pushed away when the space needs to be cleared for events.
