Creating an environment of playful, explorative, art making as a foundation to build students creative voices formed the building blocks of two Creatives in Schools projects.
Students rapidly explored different mediums and techniques while weaving ideas through each exercise, moving towards concepts for final works.
Both projects resulted in outdoor art works. An outdoor classroom was the first, with 6 classes contributing different elements to the space, either with educational references such as types of flora, or practical pieces such as seats and a bird hide.
The second project, at intermediate level, focussed on the rejuvenation of double length picnic tables. This involved practical construction, prepping, and painting skills, as well as exploring concepts, designing and executing as a team.
Sharing the fun, discovery and satisfaction of creativity is rewarding. Helping a young person take an idea through to a finished work is a privilege.
