Inspired by the raw materials left by cyclone Gabrielle on Tairawhiti's beaches, the Stump series transforms wood debris into occasional tables and candlesticks. Machining the logs level and covering them with smooth, coloured Formica, juxtaposes the rough against the man-made. The stump series brings a raw sculptural element into the interior environment.
 
These candlesticks are created from a washed up juvenile pine trunk, hence the dotted patterning. This set is topped with a rich brown formica and the wood dyed black.
