The Common Exotic species brings the colour and beauty of exotic foliage to the Dominion Road streetscape through the manipulation of common materials.

 

Created from the backyard patio furniture we are all familiar with, filigree table and chair tops are collaged together to form a complex pattered surface that transcends the common associations of the initial furniture. The use of this used furniture creates a bridge between domestic and public space. It reuses existing or used materials in a positive upgrade, bringing connotations of garden (garden of Eden), restfulness, oasis, to the busy hustle of shopping and commuting public.
